Description
This year, UNHCR in Afghanistan, with its national partners responded to two new large-scale emergencies. In October, three 6.3 magnitude earthquakes and many aftershocks struck western Afghanistan, resulting in heavy loss of life, homes, and livelihoods. Around the same time, the Government of Pakistan announced plans to deport undocumented foreigners, including Afghans. Since then, nearly half a million people have arrived in Afghanistan, many with few belongings and little means to sustain themselves. With support from its donors, UNHCR and partners, have been providing protection and lifesaving assistance to earthquake survivors and new arrivals back in Afghanistan. Watch more here: 📹
