Description
Empowering women to build self-reliance and dignity is core to UNHCR’s work in Afghanistan. In a country where women and girls’ rights to education, employment and movement is restricted, providing women with opportunities to become self-sufficient to support their families is vital. Sabera, a displaced Afghan mother, has grown her business, a bakery and coffee shop, in Mazar-i-Sharif, in northern Afghanistan. Her business received the boost it needed through a livelihoods’ grant from UNHCR, supported by EU International Partnerships EU in Afghanistan.
