From war, to safety, to a simple but powerful opportunity to thrive.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Description
Sudanese refugees in Chad are cultivating side by side with the communities that host them. Through farming cooperatives, refugees can supplement what they receive in aid to feed themselves, while boosting the local economy. Initiatives like these also foster peaceful coexistence with communities that have opened their doors to people forced to flee, despite facing various challenges of their own. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, works closely with the Government of Chad and humanitarian partners on this project. The government has allocated fertile land for farming, while UNHCR provides seeds, tools, and training. This cooperative model demonstrates how humanitarian aid can serve both displaced populations and their hosts. #worldfoodday UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, works to protect and assist those fleeing war and persecution. Since 1950, we have helped tens of millions of people find safety and rebuild their lives. With your support, we can restore hope for many more.
