One year of returns in #Syria
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
Description
More than 3 million Syrians have returned home in the past year. 1.2 million from neighboring countries. 1.9 million from within Syria itself. It’s a hopeful shift — a rare opening for peace after 14 years of war. But coming home is not the same as recovery. Many return to destroyed homes, unsafe streets, broken schools, and struggling hospitals. Jobs are scarce. Services are stretched thin. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help rebuild lives and resolve one of the world’s largest displacement crises. But funding is collapsing — only 25% of what’s needed inside Syria has been met. Syrians are ready to rebuild. The question is: Will the world help them do it? #Syria #Recovery #Rebuilding
