Azraq refugee camp in Jordan has become the world’s first refugee camp powered by renewable energy thanks to UNHCR, in partnership with the IKEA Foundation. As well as providing savings of US$ 1.5 million a year, the solar power plant is transforming the everyday lives of Syrian refugee families who live in the camp and providing jobs for refugees and the host community.
