Restrictions on both commercial and humanitarian goods reaching Yemen are also still in place including new procedures for clearances at Aden Port which are resulting in delays for the offloading of humanitarian cargo and subsequently a lack of space at the port.

As the port of Hudaydah remains closed we also have an additional 43 containers diverted to Aden with emergency shelter and household aid including plastic tarpaulins and blankets for more than 20,000 displaced and conflict affected families.

We are monitoring the situation closely and mobilising assistance. We have emergency relief items for 2,000 displaced families already in Hudaydah with another 2,000 aid kits and 2,000 emergency shelter kits on their way.

If hostilities intensify and prolong on Yemen's west coast we expect further displacement and a spike in humanitarian needs, further increasing hardship for displaced and conflict affected civilians.

Over the past few days we received reports of new displacement from Hudaydah and Taizz. Initial reports are that more than 1,400 people have fled from the two governorates to in Southern Taizz and Lahj with other small scale displacements to Ibb and other areas in Hudaydah .

This is the fourth departure organised by UNHCR and IOM as part of the Assisted Spontaneous Return Programs for Somali refugees (who comprise more than 90% of Yemen's refugee ppln) and who voluntarily elect to return home owing to prevailing insecurity and adversity in Yemen.
