Very good comment. Humanitarian organisations are rarely authorised to work in border areas along these routes. Staff safety is one reason, but not the only one. States do not like any form of monitoring. Even existing tools to try to measure flows cannot be relied upon. https://t.co/9eqLruRGLH

Seizing NGO ships, withdrawing naval assets from Sophia Ops, training Libyan Coast Guards cannot be the only European response to shared rescue-at-sea responsibilities in the Central Mediterranean Sea!

Yes we struggle to provide more services with partners due to financial constraints in #Tunisia but this idea that no refugee can live protected in Tunisia is inaccurate & suggesting that all refugees have the right to be resettled is wrong & irresponsable https://t.co/3PhbRXkn6W

I am tempted to say sorry, but be careful the way you unintentionally expose some vulnerable individuals in Libyan detention centres. Strong advocacy can be compatible with “do not harm” https://t.co/RY9HqmVO4v

Human traffickers in Sabratha responsible for this seems “unarmed” even when listed by the UN Sanctions Committee. Human trafficking & murder can continue in total impunity. https://t.co/USx2pBkHeF

Good article on the #slavery continuum from #Nigeria to #Libya & #Italy. What protection for these victims if they do not all qualify for refugee protection? Many say that they should return home when we know how they will have to pay their debt... https://t.co/yyhhe1Nu4o

Italy's Salvini lays down law for migrant rescue ships. But maritime law is clear. Libya is not a place of safety (Maritime Safety Committee, 167 (78). Italy and other Med countries are places of safety. https://t.co/kmbQCmq4hF

Good initiative by #Italy, more needs to be done by States to combat #modernslavery & and not so modern slavery... https://t.co/gLXRr6PeQR

Good luck & thank you. We hope the disembarkation outside of Libya will be faster than what we witnessed before. https://t.co/iy9KTlKU06
