The best way to ensure the system works is to have a fast and efficient system, to establish who is a refugee and who isn't. The majority of people who arrive via the channel are found to be refugees in need of protection.

The UK has has a relatively stable number of asylum seekers. Spain, Greece, Italy and France all receive more claims. Move closer to the countries asylum seekers are fleeing and the numbers increase. We must look at the broader picture. Displacement is a global challenge.
