As part of the evening, we also got a private tour of the Yousuf Karsh exhibition, world renowned portrait photographer who himself arrived in Halifax as an Armenian refugee in 1924. Karsh took this iconic portrait of Albert Einstein, also a refugee, among others. https://t.co/tpmiObFg45

“Vytaeimo” meaning welcome in 🇺🇦 is a memorial dedicated to the first group of Ukrainians who arrived in 🇨🇦 in 1891. The figure, in downtown #Halifax, holds an embroidered cloth with bread and salt, given to newcomers as a sign of welcome, a Ukrainian tradition. https://t.co/HrmORaM5Vv
