At the @end_svc conference this week, hosted by @FCDOGovUK, we were happy to contribute to the discussion on the need for systemic inclusion and meaningful participation of women and girls, at all levels of humanitarian responses. https://t.co/pSN6cm34wU

Gender-based violence must be prevented! Prevention and response services must be supported and prioritized. And funding must be sustained for life-saving humanitarian programs to ensure refugees and other forcibly displaced people can meet their basic needs. #16Days https://t.co/vwGWFmQ2Ue

Many displaced women + girls are skipping meals, kids are being sent to work instead of school and some may have no options but to beg or engage in the sale/exchange of sex to survive. Too many are facing heightened risks of exploitation, trafficking, child marriage and violence.

A toxic mix of crises - conflict, climate, humanitarian funding shortfalls, and increasing costs – are inflicting a devastating toll on the forcibly displaced. This is being felt across the world, but women and girls are among the first and most to suffer.https://t.co/UO2T5lB31K

Zambia has been sheltering refugees for more than 5 decades. Though its hospitality is exemplary, I urged authorities to also ensure that refugees are granted legal documentation that recognizes their status and will enable them to be self sufficient. https://t.co/iXDlxqlbXh https://t.co/gMAMrh2zjZ

UNHCR is calling for countries to respect the ban on forced returns to the DRC's eastern provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri. States have a legal and moral responsibility to allow those fleeing conflict to seek safety and be granted asylum. https://t.co/dEUKFVRJTy

Rwanda has made progress on its pledge made at the Global Refugee Forum in 2019 to issue IDs to all refugees in the country. Documentation is key to the legal protection and socio-economic and digital inclusion of refugees in countries of asylum. https://t.co/Q0V6GZt52S

Over 70% of the world’s displaced come from the most climate-vulnerable countries. The concerns and solutions for displaced people must be given a place not only in discussions at #COP27 but also must receive much more support in climate “hotspots”.
